Hi guys! I've got a fanfic recommendation for you: "The Writing on the Wall"
Now, fair warning, it's an MLP fanfic. However, that's (mostly) immaterial to the content of the story. If it helps, think of Daring Doo as Indiana Jones and the ponies as regular people. That part doesn't matter.
What I love about this story is that it's a "dark fic" done remarkably well. It turns the "Adventurer Archaeologist" trope on its head and delves into a creeping kind of horror you don't really expect. I can't say too much without spoiling, and you really don't want to be spoiled on this one. By the time I was halfway through reading, I had this dark sense of forboding as I began to realize what the characters had truly found. I'll just say it's not your usual "tomb-raiding-for-fun-and-artifacts" kind of adventure story.
It's only 6200-ish words, so reading the whole story in one shot is perfectly doable.
For proper ambience, I recommend music like this in the background as you read:

Has it really been that long since I signed in last? fuuuuuuuk
Here, let's fix that.
Despite the high cost of living... it remains popular.
Also, just realized it's been a year and two months since TotOR has had an update. whhyyyyyyyyy...
Really, Actually Not Dead (I Swear!)
Hey guys & gals. Haven't updated in a while; thought I'd fix that. I've concluded my stint at Pacific Union College, and have moved back to Fresno, CA with a fresh accounting job.
Still tinkering on the next TotOR chapter when I can... maybe might see something in coming weeks! ;P

Falcon Heavy Maiden Flight!
^^^ LIVESTREAM! ^^^
After years of delays, SpaceX's "Falcon Heavy" rocket is ready to fly! They've just received their FAA license a few days ago and are scheduled for Tuesday, February 6! (today!)
Expected launch time 10:30 AM PT, 1:30 PM ET.

Update 1: Launch appears to have been delayed about 50 minutes to 11:20 AM Pacific, 2:20 PM Eastern due to upper atmosphere wind shear https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/960920426485399552 , although, the livestream is still claiming a 10:30 PT / 1:30 ET launch
Update 2: Looks like it was pushed back further to 12:45 PM Pacific, 3:45 PM Eastern, again still due to wind shear. If it doesn't la
TotOR Soon-ish?!
While I've been busy on lots of things, including an eventually-sell-for-profit fiction book I've been writing, I've had a bit of a breakthrough with the next chapter of Tails of the Old Republic as well. I've gone from about 1500 words to 3000 in the span of a few days, so here's to hoping I can crank something out before I get bogged down again. I think drawing that Sonic sketch helped jog my brain.
I've honestly been afraid of writing this chapter for the last, oh, year. It's definitely going to have ripple effects regarding the rest of the story... I just hope what I write does it justice.
No promises on release date.
Whoops, my hand s

Oh, man, I love this one. It was more "tragically ironic" than "creepingly eerie" for me, since I recognized the, ahem, writing on the wall, but I'm sure it works just as well either way. Definitely seconding the rec!
Also, I've never listened to that track before, but it sounds familiar all the same. Similar to one of the tracks from the Fallout: Equestria BGM mod for Fallout 3, I think. Definitely going in my playlist for a couple of other games too. So seconding that rec too, as long as you're in the mood for something atmospheric and sci-fi-ish.
