Why am I so cruel?
I'm evil.
OK, when I said this was a “Boss Battle” I should have said, “curb-stomp battle of ridiculous proportions”.
So... basically, Tails bit off more than he could chew, and got his ass handed to him. Epically. Believe it or not, I actually started the outlines of this chapter all the way back in January. Slowly, I filled in the action sequences, and later began adding the gorier details. I just kept adding to it bit by bit, keeping the details updated as I progressed with the main series.
Over the past several months, I wondered why I kept adding to the battle, because each time Tails got more and more injured. On the one hand, I wanted to show that my Tails was not an invincible hero. He can't just rush in, clean house, and come out smelling like a basket of roses. He isn't Sonic. On the other hand, I wanted to show more of Tails' character. No matter what the odds, Tails won't back down from what he feels he needs to do. Even when he's at an explicit disadvantage, Tails will throw himself into the fire for what's right. No matter how beaten or battered he gets, Tails won't give up.
Ahem, however, I suspect our teenage fox will be feeling this in the morning.
( I swear he's going to kill me when he wakes up.
)

All right, first time commenting on this fanfic (I would've done earlier but I was reading of the 3DS' internet browser).
First off, let me say that this fanfic as a whole is really well written (especially since I'm also a Tails fanboy) and this chapter in particular was very good, showing us that Tails will never back down no matter how bad things get!
By the way, as for the music, I couldn't listen to the track but I did listen to a couple of other tracks that helped things feel much more epic:
